NoBS Member/Photo of the Month: Brian Little

How serendipitous that our NoBS member of the month and winner of the photo of the month is none other than Brian Little, who will be presenting a lightning session at this year's Inferno. Here's Brian's story in his own words:
P.O.T.M...Sweet! It is quite an honor to receive any kind of accolade inside this forum with all of the wonderfully talented people here at NOBS. I'm supposed to tell you a bit about me so here goes…Not so long ago it seems I was at my desk, unhappy & selling John Deere tractors. It was at that desk while surfing the net looking for inspiration that I came across Rob & Hodgy's site for NOBS. Their outstanding & unique work as well as their excitement & passion for what they did truly inspired me. After selling my motocross bike and motorcycle to purchase some cheapo lights, the big Kahuna and my first Canon I was ready to learn. Just over a year (and many, many 80 hour work weeks) later I quit my job and went full time. I've been full time now for going on 4 years and my business has continued to grow each year. Last season I shot almost 100 seniors and over 25 weddings amidst other families, babies and such. I've also been lucky enough to hook up with Graphic Authority and do some design work and sales for them. This winter I am excited to open my new studio/gallery in-house and we even managed to win a few International merits from WPPI along the way. I want to mention these things to you all to give you a true life account of what can happen when you are willing to learn and take advice from all of the wonderful, talented people on this forum. I didn't know an f-stop from an f-bomb when I first picked up a camera. If I can do this and make it work, anyone can...even Clem...ok, well maybe not Clem... Thanks Rob, Hodgy and all the amazing NOBS members for doing what you do, it is more appreciated than you will ever know.
People ask me often where I went to school to learn Photography…I always say the same thing “I went to the school of NOBS.” Damn proud of it too.
Thanks guys,
Mahalo,
Brian Little
About the Photo of the Month

About the Shot...I love Halloween. I was looking for something evil but still interesting to hang on my wall as a Halloween conversation piece for customers as they came in the studio. I grabbed my brother in law and had him literally throw one of my old jackets lying around over his head and had him give me an evil glare. I don't use strobes so I grabbed a single hot light and lit him at a 45 from the right side. One main, a hair light and a background light. I then grabbed my son's plastic pumpkin from his room and photographed that with the same light set-up. I photoshopped the rest using a mixture of Craig's actions, DH actions and textures. Thanks again so much, all the POTM entries were great, I am very honored to have won. See you all in Nashville!
