Finding Your Way In The Garden of Eden We Call Photography
Temptations abound from every which way we turn. Who can resist daydreaming about getting a new camera body or lens? After all, isn't having the latest and greatest equipment a sure-fire guarantee to a successful career as a photographer?! And how about marketing? There are loads of promises, the proverbial "silver bullet" that will cure our marketing woes and get us an endless supply of clients with no effort whatsoever on our part.
I think we all know that there's a lot more to achieving a successful career in photography. So, where do you start? This was the question posed by NoBSer, She. As usual, fellow NoBSers rose to the occasion to give a fledgling member a helping hand. This is what NoBS is all about, really. Selflessly helping each other to navigate through the piles of BS that abound without getting too dirty. Where would a lot of us be today had it not been for the guidance and overall helpful attitude of the NoBS community. It is an oasis in the desert, my friends.
So, back to She's question, "Where do you start?" Ok, let's address one thing at a time. Make a point of looking at each section of NoBS and studying the tutorials. Thereafter, go out on a limb and start posting and asking questions. No one was born knowing all. Finally, hit the ground running. Developing proper technique and one's own style is a lifetime process, which will constantly evolve as we push ourselves to improve and push the envelope of what a good image is.
