Are You Blog Loving?

It seems like yesterday, but in reality it was just under two years ago that a NoBS member opened up a can of ... wait, no, that's not what he did. He started the blog love revolution here at NoBS Photo Success. What we're talking about is one SEO (search engine optimization) strategy that little old you can use quite easily to improve the visibility of your website on search engines such as Google and Yahoo. Blog love. First, of course, you need to have a blog. Getting one is very easy; keeping one up to date can be quite challenging. But in order for your site to remain relevant, you need to be updating your blog and then going to other blogs that have the no follow tags removed and posting comments there with your key words and links back to your website. It takes a few minutes a day and the results are nothing short of amazing if done diligently. If you want to join in on the blog love fun, go to this linky.

Photo/Member Of The Month: Debbie Rodgers

Debbie Rodgers (aka Ashdownlea) is this month's NoBS Member of the Month as well as the winner of the Photo of the Month. Here's the story behind the image.

"Sydney is around 7 days old, I used a "garage sale" find gold chair and a brown blanket. I laid Sydney on the blanket with her bummy to the back of the chair, using the back of the chair as a backdrop. I shot at 2.8 to throw everything but her face area out of focus. Softbox camera right at 2.8 and a reflector Camera left. "

Tyson's Workflow & Sales Process

NoBS member Tyson Zahner has put together a full hour long video of his complete workflow and sales process. Tyson uses a wireless transmitter to send images from the camera to his computer where his wife prepares them for the sales session, which happens immediately following the photo session. He shares all of the hardware and software necessary to get this done. Tyson does a great job sharing all of this information; after all, he IS a teacher (for a couple more months anyway!). Check it out HERE!

Getting More Brides To Book With You

Is there a silver bullet for attracting wedding clientele? Unequivocally, the vast majority of wedding photographers on NoBS say no. There are changes happening as a result of the downturn in the economy. More "professional" photographers are hanging their sign out on a shingle looking for business. They are also undercutting and undervaluing the work of serious and experienced professionals. How to remedy this? Though opinions differ, you'll soon see by reading this thread that it takes a multi-pronged attack to get and keep the ball rolling with wedding bookings.

Meet Bill

Who is Bill? He happens to be a new member of the NoBS Photo Success Forum. He also happened to reach out and asked for honest feedback about his business (including his marketing and website) from an established pro (that would be Rob Provencher). What he got was straightforward, no-nonsense, and unadulterated advice. Rob put together a video of his feedback for Bill. The video is worth looking at as Rob goes through Bill's website and points out weaknesses and what he needs to do to improve it and his business.

Also, check out the thread where members give Bill a ton of great feedback and ideas. Read the thread...

Cool App for Photographers

If you are a photographer who happens to own an iPhone, here's a very handy new application which will all but eliminate the need to carry around paper model releases. It's called Easy Release and it sells in the iTunes store for $9.99. With this application you are able to get a release signed by your client and then emailed to you (and your client) in pdf format. Thanks go to NoBS member Peter Pauer for this great find!

James Hodgins recently announced the addition of two moderators, Danny Rabalais in the Glamour forum and Brian Little in Digital Albums. Welcome aboard, men!
