NoBS Photo of the Month by Peppy Pea

The image was created 7/1/07. The night before we had an AMAZING sunset. So pretty, in fact, that I took a pic out the windshield of my husband's speeding filthy Toyota. I was excited since I knew I was photographing a model on Sunday. We got outdoors and ready to make the image at nearly 10 pm. No clouds. Ugly boring sunset. *sigh.

I decided to make the image any ways. I metered the ambient to use as the fill light. Then I used an Alien Bee AB800 with a 40 degree grid and the powerpack from Alien Bees. I think that I metered the flash at 5.6 (that was 2 sessions ago!) Then I made a few exposures at varying shutter speeds to make sure I got the shadows and highlights just the way I wanted 'em.

When I got the images in PS, the sky looked as ugly on the computer as it did IRL. So I grabbed the sky from the night before and placed it under the bride image. Used a layer mask and painted over the bride picture by the mountains until I got the sky just the way I wanted it. With a little time and care, I was able to make the image I saw in my head. Kinda nice when a plan (sorta) comes together, LOL!
